Mahindra has finally stepped in the 110cc scooter segment with the launch of their new scooter christened as the Gusto. The scooter is designed to compete with all brands in the 110cc segment including the Honda Active, Hero Motocorp Maestro, and TVS Jupiter. With its appealing looks Mahindra aims to target the Gusto towards audiences young and old alike. The base variant of the scooter DX comprises of 12-inch large tubeless tyres, easy front kick, and quick storage and also LED pilot lamps. The mid variant HX boasts of seat height adjustable with the elements of DX and the top variants VX are bestowed will all the above features and bring along remote flip key and find me lamps. The Mahindra Gusto features a 109.6cc, single-cylinder, M-TEC engine, air-cooled and four strokes. The motor is tuned to churn out a maximum power of 8bhp at 7500rpm and a peak torque of 9Nm at 5500rpm. It has an automatic transmission and it claims a mileage of 63kmpl, which is assisted with a fuel tank capacity of 6 liters. The sports 12-inch MRF zapper tires at both the ends with 130mm drum brakes.
The suspension system of the bike houses telescopic front forks with the air springs and also spring loaded hydraulic dampers at the rear and the wheelbase of the scooter is 1275mm as well as minimum ground clearance is 165mm. It is available in four versions and Gusto has a mileage of 61kmpl and a top speed of 80kmph. Mahindra Gusto is available in ten different colors such as Volcanic Red, Galactic Black, Magnetic Magenta, Organza Silver, Artic White, Raven Black, Asphalt Black, Iceberg White, Crimson Matte Red and Pacific Matte Blue. The engine has been tuned in order to perform maximum possible mileage even when the driving conditions start becoming worse. The Gusto comes with a self-start option, but at first time in India, an easy front kick has been provided, which makes it easier to start like the motorcycles. Its CVT transmission is said to be very smooth. Mahindra has offered a plenty of safety features on the new Gusto that include the guide lamps, which turn off after sometime while you park the Gusto at night. And also the flip key of the Gusto has a LED light which helps in the keyhole illumination at night.
