Bristol came in second on the list, followed by Brighton and Hove for the third spot,Southamptonand Cambridge claimed fourth and last place.

Edinburgh
Edinburgh is Scotland’s second most highly populated cities. It has roughly 489,000 residents. The city is only 264 square metres. Bristol
Bristol has about 460,000 residents. It’s widely renowned for its prosperous maritime and is a superb cultural hub. The city only measures 110 square kilometres with an elevation of just 11 metres. The cost of living in Bristol is 30% lower than in the Big Apple.

The Most Perilous Places
Birmingham was voted as the most dangerous place in the entire UK. A whopping 42 per cent of its residents say that they feel at risk living in this city even for just one day. The study also revealed that one-third of the respondent’s fear for their safety even when they’re inside their home.

According to Numbeo, the crime rate in Birmingham is at a shocking 62.96 per cent higher than the UK average. The crime rate has seen a continuous increase over the past three years. Many residents worry about break-ins, robberies,carjacking, assaults and even terrorist attacks.

The other cities that made it on the list of UK’s most dangerous place to live in are Leicester, London, Manchester, and Sheffield. A large fraction of the residents of the aforementioned cities invest in close protection services for their personal safety and peace of mind.

The top safety concerns in the UK

The results of the poll somehow corroborate with the latest news and issues in the five enumerated cities namely Birmingham, Leicester, Manchester, London, and Sheffield.

For example, there has been an increase in youth violence observed in major cities such as London and Manchester.

There is also a fairly large number of murder victims. Some of the notable murder victims include Steve Frank Narvaez-Jara, a 20-year-old who was murdered in January 2018 and Elizabeth Lacatusu, a woman who was stabbed to death in Norfolk, London.

The UK is also shaken by a number of attacks from extremist groups and individuals. There were several attacks in 2017 which led to the loss of many lives. In Westminster, terrorist Khalid Masood drove his vehicle across the Westminster bridge, killing four innocent pedestrians. He then stabbed Keith Palmer to death, a police officer whom was on duty that day. The attack only lasted for less than 2 minutes but affected hundreds in not thousands of individuals.

In Manchester, suicide bomber Salman Abedi detonated a homemade bomb filled with shrapnel at the end of Ariana Grande’s concert at the Manchester Arena. Twenty-two concert attendees died from this incident, most of whom were young girls.

Terror and panic struck again when three terrorists drove a van over London Bridge and attacked people with knives. Eight people were murdered, and the terrorists shot dead by police. There was a retaliation attack when a van drove into a group of Muslims near a mosque in North London. A pensioner died of a heart attack, but there were several injured worshippers.

Many residents fear for their safety as more and more numbers of crimes are observed all around the UK. The increasing paranoia is also adding to the tension between varying religious sects and races.
